River cruise from St. Petersburg to Moscow 5 *

A luxurious 8-day cruise in the heart of Russia, along the two most important rivers, the Volga and Neva, a fascinating journey from St. Petersburg to Moscow aboard the MS Mstislav Rostropovich.

Day 1

Self-transfer to ferry *.

Embarkation on the MS Rostropovich 5 * (or similar cruise ship), and cabin accommodation.

Day 2
St. Petersburg

During your first bus tour of St. Petersburg, the Venice of the North, you will visit the following sights:

  • Nevsky Prospekt
  • Cathedral of the Saviour on Spilled Blood
  • Kazan Cathedral
  • Palace Square (Hermitage)
  • Smolny Monastery
  • Saint Isaac’s Cathedral
  • Tauride Palace and Winter Palace

Walking tour of the Peter and Paul Fortress, the Peter and Paul Cathedral, and the burial place of the Romanov family.

Excursion to the Hermitage, one of the richest museums in the world, equaling the Paris Louvre.

Night on board.

Day 3

Arrival in Mandrogi, a former fishing village of the Veps people, located on the left bank of the Svir River, which connects Lake Ladoga and Lake Onega.

Free time in Mandrogi, some quality time to enjoy its unique, beautiful nature.

Outdoor barbecue (weather permitting).

Return on board and departure to Kizhi.

Day 4

Stop in Kizhi, the pearl of Karelia.

Here’s what you’ll see while visiting Kizhi Island:

  • Museum of Wooden Architecture
  • Church of the Transfiguration (exterior visit only)
  • Church of the Protection of the Holy Virgin
  • Visit to a Russian “izba”, a traditional Russian home built of wood and decorated with many sculptures.

Return and departure to Goritsy.

Day 5

Arrival in Goritsy.

Here’s what you will see during the city tour:

  • Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in Russia and the adjacent icon museum.

Return and departure to Yaroslavl.

Day 6

Arrival in Uglich and walking tour in the city centre:

  • Uglich Kremlin and St. Dmitry’s Church
  • Church of the Transfiguration

Return on board and departure to Moscow.

Captain’s gala dinner (elegant evening dress is recommended).

Day 7

Arrival in Moscow.

Discover the Russian capital during a city bus tour. You will see the most important monuments of this bustling metropolis:

  • Tverskaya Street, one of the main shopping streets in Moscow
  • Novodevichy Convent (exit)
  • KGB building (exterior visit only)
  • Red Square, a symbol of Moscow, (free time), and GUM department stores
  • Cathedral of Christ the Saviour (exterior visit only)

Visit of the Kremlin, which used to be a fortress, a city within a city. It is also the symbol of power and authority, because the president’s residence is located right here. In addition to the Kremlin, a visit to one of the cathedrals located on Kremlin territory.

Return and night on board.
