Kyrgyzstan is separated from China by the Tian Shan mountains, the fifth highest mountains in the world. It is a perfect place for hiking and taking a walk in the woods and valleys where you can enjoy the beauty of Kyrgyzstan's nature

Day 1
Arrival and first acquaintance with the capital of Kyrgyzstan

Flight to Bishkek. Arrival at the airport and transfer to the hotel

Sightseeing tour of the city with visits to:

  • The Victory Square, the Oak Park with the stone sculptures
  • The Manas and Ala-Too Square
  • The Museum of History where you will learn about the origin of the country
  • The Osh Bazaar, one of the largest markets in the city

Dinner in the restaurant with traditional Kyrgyz cuisine

Day 2
The green valleys of Kyrgyzstan

Departure to the Chuy Valley

Acquaintance with the medieval city of Balasagun, that in the 9th-10th centuries used to be the capital of the Karakhanids State. Visit of the Burana Tower (9 cent.), the minaret with ancient graves and funerary monuments (also called 'balbals')

Trip to the Valley and National Park of Chong-Kemin. This eco-friendly area is a perfect place for the wildlife lovers

Walk in the open air among untouched nature and landscapes of exceptional beauty

Traditional dinner and overnight at the guest house

NB The food for a 4-day hike is bought in Bishkek. Tents, as well as camping and kitchen utensils for the bivouac are purchased at your expense. Cooking during the hike is carried out individually

Day 3
The beginning of the route

Breakfast and departure to the Chong- Kemin River (starting point for a 4-day hike)

Crossing of mountain slopes and Alpine pastures in the Toru Aygyr Village

Day 4
Kel'-Kogur, the miracle of the Northern Tian Shan

Ascent to the Kel'-Kogur (or Kol-Tor) Lake, located in the Chon-Kemin National Park

Situated at a height of 2500 meters in the Northern part of the Tian Shan, the Kel'-Kogur Lake is known for its turquoise-coloured waters and the beauty of nature that surrounds it

Day 5
In the center of the Alpine Pastures

Continuation of the trip in the direction of Jailoo, or the Alpine pastures of Kyzyl-Ask(?) with breathtaking scenery along the road

Distance: 15 km + 700 m, – 500m/ 6-7 hours on foot

Day 6
The last day of the tour

The descent to the village of Tamchy near the Issyk-Kul Lake

A car transfer to the shores of Issyk-Kul Lake from the last stop of the hike to have a swim and relax on the beach

In Kyrgyz language Issyk-Kul means 'hot lake'. Thanks to good climate and beautiful scenery this spot has become one of the most favorite destinations for travelers

Night at the guest house in Tamchy

Distance: 15 km + 700 m, – 500m/ 6-7 hours on foot

Day 7
The spectacular Kyrgyz gorges

After breakfast the group continues its journey in the direction of Karakol (through Grigorevskoe and Semenovskoe gorges), a magnificent place with rapid rivers, winding paths and slopes covered with pine forests

You will enjoy a pleasant stay in the heart of the wild nature

Day 8
The second part of the tour

Breakfast and car transfer to the Karakol Gorge to continue your four-day hike

Ascent to the Sirota Camp, located at 2800 meters above sea level, moving along the breathtaking landscapes of Karakol river, the gorges and pastures with nomadic farmers and their herds

Distance: 11 km + 600m/4 hours walk

Day 9
Ala-Kul, a high mountain glacial lake

Hiking towards Ala-Kul (also known in Kyrgyz as Ala-Köl), located at an altitude of 3800 meters in the Terskey Alatau Mountain Range of the Tian Shan massif

Ascent to the Ala-Kul Pass (3900 m), which offers a breathtaking view of the glacial lake and the peaks of the surrounding mountains

Descent to the Keldike River Valley (3000 m), setting up a campsite

Distance: 12 km + 1100 m, -900m/6 hours walk

Day 10
The Altyn Arashan Valley and its hot springs

A tour to the valley of Altyn Arashan ('Golden spring' in Kyrgyz language), located at a height of 3000 meters and known for its marvellous scenery and hot springs

A leisurely stroll through the valley and swimming in natural hot springs

Day 11
Introduction to religious sites

After breakfast the group continues its journey in the direction of Karakol, moving through the Alpine pastures and spruce forests

A car transfer to Karakol (from the last stop of the hike), guest house accommodation

Visiting local attractions: the Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity, built in the late 19th century, and the Dungan mosque, built without a single nail, in the style of a Buddhist temple of the Chinese

In the evening you will enjoy a national Dungan dish called ashlan-fu (noodles, vegetables, eggs…)

Day 12
The gorges, valleys and mountain pastures

Breakfast and then departure to the valley of Jeti-Oguz, also known as the 'Valley of the seven bulls'

The Jety-Oguz Valley with its waterfalls, spectacular gorges and red rocks, the most famous of which are the 'Broken heart' and the 'Seven Bulls' - is one of the most beautiful places in the country

The road towards the Barskoon (Barskon) Gorge, a small village famous for its waterfalls, the most stunning of which is the 'Tears of the Snow Leopard' cascade

Arrival to Tamga village, accommodation at the guest house

In the evening you can enjoy a bath-house (banya)

Day 13
The wonders of nature and traditional crafts

After breakfast the group continues its journey in the direction of Kochkor, a high mountain settlement with a calm and friendly atmosphere

Along the road you will get a chance to have a look at the 'Fairy Tale' canyon (Skazka) with its rocks of different forms and colours (red, ochre, yellow)

There also would be a stop in the village of Bokonbaevo, where you will meet the hunter of eagles and his hand-bird of prey

In Kochkor you will visit a felt sewing studio, where Kyrgyz women will demonstrate you the process of felt (yurts are made of this material) making

Day 14
Song-Kol lake, the pearl of Kyrgyzstan

Breakfast and departure to the Song-Kol Lake (Song Köl), located at a height of 3000 meters in the middle of the Tian Shan Mountain Range (lit. 'heaven/celestial mountains')

Crossing the Kalmak-Ashuu Pass (3543 m) and descending to the shore of the lake

Meeting with a nomad family and accommodation in a yurta

A unique opportunity to get acquainted with the real Kyrgyz nomads, their way of life and traditions

Day 15
Back to the civilization

Breakfast at the campsite

Return to Bishkek through the pastures of the Suusamyr Valley, the land of nomads and shepherds, and through the pass of Too Ashu (3400 m), surrounded by magnificent mountain scenery

Arrival in Bishkek and visit to a local market where you'll have an opportunity to do some shopping before leaving
