Peterhof was established by Peter the Great in 1705, the Peterhof Palace was the emperor’s residence and had access to the Baltic Sea. Peterhof is also called ‘Russian Versailles’, the architectural complex consists of the gorgeous palace and impressive parks.
Lower Gardens is designed in the style of French gardens by the architect, Jean-Baptiste Alexandre Le Blond. Peterhof is one of the largest fountain complex in the world, the land area is approximately 100 ha.
During the fountains season we invite you to take a stroll along the Lower Gardens, enjoy sculptures and fountains, especially “The Grand Cascade” and “Samson”.
During the low season you may visit the Peterhof Palace in baroque, you will be amazed by the splendid staircases, great halls and wealth of golden details.
Besides you will visit Lomonosov (former Oranienbaum) and the Grand Menshikov Palace, located 40 km from St. Petersburg. The palace built in baroque in 1710-1725 for Alexander Menshikov,the great soldier and right hand man of Peter the Great. Italian and German architects created fascinating interiors. You will see a typical decor of Peter the Great times as well as the collections of furniture, paintings and other treasures of 18th century.
