Description:

The gardens of the 18-19th centuries, with an area of 200 hectares, are as exquisite as the interiors of the palace. Built at the intersection of French and English fashion, this park has a large number of pavilions and architectural structures that harmonically work with the serene nature landscape that surrounds it. You will truly enjoy this walk and the magnificent view of the castle’s facade that can be seen from every corner.

Pavlovsk Palace, both modest on the outside and rich inside, has a great collection of French pieces of art that were acquired by Tsar Paul and his wife Mary during their trip to Europe at the end of the 18th century. Richly decorated, the palace managed to preserve its original furniture, despite the destruction caused by the Nazis during World War II. It should be noted that compared with other palaces situated around St. Petersburg, Pavlovsk Palace had managed to suffer less damage. This fact makes Pavlovsk even more unique.

After visiting the imperial residence, you will pass through a hilly and quiet park which previously served as hunting grounds. If you choose to go to Pavlovsk in winter and in case weather permits, you will be able to go on a sleigh (Troika) ride. This walk will remind you of scenes from the famous movie ‘Doctor Zhivago’.
