The Pavlovsk tour

Description:
Pavlovsk Palace, both modest on the outside and rich inside, has a great collection of French pieces of art that were acquired by Tsar Paul and his wife Mary during their trip to Europe at the end of the 18th century. Richly decorated, the palace managed to preserve its original furniture, despite the destruction caused by the nazis during World War II. It should be noted that compared with other palaces situated around St. Petersburg, Pavlovsk Palace had managed to suffer less damage. This fact makes Pavlovsk even more unique.
After visiting the imperial residence, you will pass through a hilly and quiet park which previously served as hunting grounds. If you choose to go to Pavlovsk in winter and in case weather permits, you will be able to go on a sleigh (Troika) ride. This walk will remind you of scenes from the famous movie ‘Doctor Zhivago’.
We recommend to go on this tour in order to avoid the crowds of tourists that other palaces tend to have, such as The Grand Peterhof Palace and the Catherine Palace in Tsarskoye Selo (Pushkin).
There is also an opportunity to combine an excursion to Pavlovsk with a visit to Tsarskoye Selo.
