Trip on the Saint-Petersburg metro
Discover the first subway line opened in 1955 which connects the city center to the southwest. These stations make for a really good example of authentic Soviet architecture. The subway’s interior is surprisingly beautiful, it reflects the power and greatness of the Soviet state which can be seen in everyday life. You’ll be truly impressed by all the mosaics, wall carvings, bronze chandeliers, glass columns and various statues that can be found in the underground lobbies. When you’re going down to the very depth of the subway station, you don’t feel as if you’re using public transport. The Metro in Saint-Petersburg looks like a real museum. It is considered as the deepest and one of the most luxurious in the world. The deepest station is 86 meters.
